Mortii Viventis - The Living Dead (with audio)

This year's Halloween poem is just a bit of spooky fun. Read through the poem before you play the audio track though, the voice is so heavily distorted (deliberately to make it "from the other side") some of the words are not clear. There is also a subliminal message for those into such things. If you filter it out, raise the volume and play it backwards it says "Judas Priest are crap" - joking, all will be revealed to people with good hearing at the end of the track.

MORTII VIVENTIS (click for audio)

The living dead are all around us,
in the earth and in the air.
Their thoughts and all their lives surround us,
they who made this world we share.

Death dwells in the streets and buildings,
past lives are written on the stones,
dead thoughs recorded on our atoms
future's blueprint in our bones.

In the dark and silent places
whispering voices may be heard,
we feel cool breath upon our faces
in closets no zephyr has stirred.

Life in death and death in life,
the cogs that drive the cycle round.
Dead words upon forgotten pages,
the future in the past is bound.

The dead live on through we who live
and ought to greet them not with dread.
Where time dissolves like a daydream
we are one with the living dead.

Mortii viventis, our companions,
like pearls strung on an endless thread,
link us to unseen dimensions.
Our mentors are the living dead.

Very cool. You've gone from print media to digital. Nice work. Oh and I love the poem. We are most definitely the bits of those who have passed before us. They history is forever embedded in our genetic code. Of course this doesn't speak too well for me, as I've never had the priviledge of passing on the bits of me and all that was my past into an offspring. ~ Sara
