I did not know whether to put this in the poetry category or "Action / Thriller".
The rhythm of this rhymed poem is awkward (I have to record it) but the storytelling style and the warning to those is us who take risks make for unusual subject matter.
I was smoking mariajuana in the corner of a bar,
minding my own business, just taking time to chill
just as I was thinking should I get another beer
someone caught my attention, made me check and stare.
She wasn't all that pretty but the challenge in her eyes
said she had something for me if I'd care to claim the prize.
A smile confirmed the message as she flicked her auburn hair
so I picked up my drink and I moved in for the kill.
It took no time to get to know her as we drained a glass or three
And conversation turned quite naturally toward her place or mine.
I was easily persuaded and let her lead the way,
she had awakened dark desires, I was in the mood to play,
but when she asked me to suurender my will to her lust
those desires argued against my inclination to mistrust.
There was a hint of concealed danger in the way she looked at me
and said "I like my pleasure seasoned with a lot of pain."
She said, "pPerhaps I was presumtuous or mistaken to assume
you were the kind of man who might satisfy my need,
I'm not looking for commitment, just a simple one night stand
so you do not have to love me but for an hour please pretend.
And the memory of our lovemaking will linger all your life.
Later I recalled her words as I felt the slender knife
slide beneath my ribs and seek my heart as darkness filled the room
and from somewhere outside myself I watched my life recede.
Don't know how long its been now, I dwell beyond the realm time
and while I live in her memory, in this limbo I remain.
Every time she brings another lover through the door
my blood screams out a warning from the walls and floor;
but it seems they cannot hear or do not want to heed my call
and who am I to deny a taste of ecstacy before the fall.
That night she brought me to a place where rapture is sublime.
I could have lived forever and never reached that high again.
