Ice Plants

The dark love of the incubus is challenged by another force. But which is good and which is evil?

The Sun Shone on closed petals of
the Ice Plants as I poured my love on you;
but your body was claimed by the sacrament
and only in the dark hours could you open
and only in forsaken places seek
a jealous lover who hides his face
and caresses you with hard fingers as
he commands you shun the light.
The summer sun falls from the sky,
your moon - pale lover watches
and weaves his ornate rituals
while the pretty ice plants die.
But warmth protects you,
a defiant light breaks thedarkness
and my ancient gods rise up to touch
the seeds that fell in the place
where I once made your flowers bloom.

Garden Invasion: A perfect metaphor for the spread of extremism in Europe

The person next to you could be a vampire

An interestingly complex intarsia of imagery, both sensual and dark.. like bitter chocolate.. surprising on the tongue.

A very direct, image-rich write. Excellent sense of place. Much enjoyed, thank you.

Be well,
Michael
