(A Hedonists accusation of the self - righteous and their orwell inspired control freakery) I have been sickened by the self righteousness of Obama, who has put his ego ahead of everything as he brought the USA to financial ruin and the world to the brink of war.

After you
have found the holy grail
and proved your rightful claim to it,
after you
have saved the whales
and other endangered species
protected
your conscience, ignoring
the weak who reach out for help,

after you
ride like Arthur
through armies of injustice,
your smug
Excalibur piercing
illiberal hearts and closed minds
to liberate
each minority

of race, gender, creed or class
that did not seek a saviour
but only
the right to speak
for itself when you presumed
to speak for
everybody, never listening;
proscribing
thoughts and ideas
silencing inconvenient voices,

after you
have said a prayer
for each child who was not fed
bitter bread
baked by your
caring liberal charity
but starved
on crumbs dropped from
our table of conspicuous consumption
while you
regretted your
inability to conjure with bread and fishes,

after you
have washed your guilt
in sterile words that disinfect no wounds
and cannot
heal the tumors
of greed that consume humanity,

after you
have slain the serpent
in your belly, reached into the wound,
held up
its twitching body
so all can see the purgation of
your failures
will the world then
be a better place for those
who must come after you?

Powerful... this poem doesn't pull any punches. It does seem that many politicians are out of touch with what is really going on, no matter how many times the press, poets and songwriters may highlight these issues.

My god, Ian.. If the world chooses up sides, picks teams, I'd like to play on your side.. you have written a 'voice of reason' and addressed what seemingly had no voice, til now. What an observant, beautifully formed 'warning' to us all.. Impressive! katy xox.

Sadly our laws frequently hurt victims and help the criminals...our rights can become very twisted. This is a powerful and educational write! ~Z~

Pounding piece, Ian. How is it that the "just-for-kickers" seem to negate so much in a person's precious id by their unconscionable acts, draped over the world like a debiliating caul...

Ian that is the saddest thing I have ever heard of..a woman lives her entire life and then has to die like that...your poem is powerful..we dont take care of our victims but protect to the death the criminal..our laws must be changed...floria
