There are times my feelings consume me
My mind wanders away and I cannot breathe

Though the darkest days have passed
There is a part of me that didn't make the journey

Something lost, I cannot even look for
As I know not what it is

I only know of the empty place
Where I presume it used to be

I try to fill my days
With enough distraction
that I won't notice
It doesn't always work

Then I am reminded of the hole inside of me

Other times it draws me near
screaming for attention

Hungering to come home
And I am forced to recognize

against my will
that I am not, the same me

Sure I can say, "I'm better, wiser, stronger"
Having survived the darker side of life

I can say, "I should be happy, things are better now"
Count my blessings of today
And if it's a choice I choose happiness

Yet still and all
That is the mind talking
My heart says differently

And today, it speaks the loudest

Unpardon me but I relent it boldly;
For it is far ahead, if I can be sure of it,
And far it is, that my hallucination be valid,
And hallucination it is, as it should be,
And however, unlike itself, mysterious, unknown, and untested,
So it be foreseen in my tireless search.

Sometimes in life when we realize that we are not the same person we were is because everyone changes as time goes by. Our experiences in life has taught us many things when we had to go through many things.

Sometimes people who think that we have changed do not realize that they, too, have changed as well. No one stays the same as time goes by.

Sometimes, we are disappointed by some who used to be friends, and now they aren't friends anymore, and that all go with the flow of life. We change and people change as well.

Anyway...you've picked a good topic to write this poem, and look how it got me talking. :)

A thought-provoking piece!
