A hundred miles of silence Proved ninety nine too many And a thousand racing thoughts Too slight for sound Filled the corridors of my mind And pressed against my heart Coursed through my veins That swelled at my neck Near bursting at my temples My hands and lips and knees trembled Such that I could hardly breathe The air thick with discomfort In the haze of disenchantment That blurs the eyes and burns the throat While your stomach writhes in the agony Of sickening defeat Subversively challenged to a duel Where the sword that's drawn Cuts deeper to inflict the wound You invited in momentary ignorance Sudo Nym September, 2007 All Rights Reserved
