Conversation... The vocal exchange of thoughts and ideas

we take turns you and I and sometimes others
telling stories that reveal what we think and how we feel

And when we hear between the lines we discover:
~ who we are ~ who they think we are ~
who we could become ~ and what we never wish to be.

If we choose our words carefully
we succinctly relay what we want others to know
~~ we think, we hope.

If we are careless with our speech
~ we are misunderstood
~ we can hurt ~ misrepresent or falsify

The meaning of words are slanted by perceptions.
Subject to a bias cut on the slant of our judgment
filtered through the sieve of personal experience.

As he says, "that isn't what I meant."
And she replies, "it's what you said."

Who defines the meaning of literally speaking?

The orator or the listener?
