It was on a Saturday in May
When a charming gentleman found my way
He had gone to play a special set
With a local band whom he had met
As fate would have it, I too went
To the same locale, opportunity lent
As I listened to his stories shared
And replies to my own inquiries, dared
I found myself intrigued and mused
As his life unfolded in contrasting views
I was captured by the lifetime's song
Which revealed a heart both soft and strong
