The simplicity of a drive
At the dawning of sunset
Releases a tragedy into my bloodstream
And I leave it to circulate
Like jittering poison
Unsure of whether to attack
Or to uncover the skittish
Words that falter too often
Lights soon fade
Into a paranoid darkness
And my fragile consciousness
Fragments into thin flakes
Of bitter remembrances
From days never occurred
I cast a butterfly net
Trying to catch these wayward
Sacrifices of morbid purity
But my surface thoughts
Clash with the thin mesh struggling
To control thoughts of grandeur
When the braking reality
Jerks me away from hypnotizing
Yellow lines that somehow reflect in the dark
I swerve into the ditch
With intentional determination
To avoid the accidental thoughts
That form a blindfold glaze
