As I walk along with the whispering wind the devil throws his flame to the top of the underground and tries to warm my feet,
I like a little warmth circulating throughout my body, but I have someone that guides me already so that’s sweet,
When I’ve failed and feel I need help-
Better yet when I thought about swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills and killing myself
Jesus was there.
I pick my left leg up and my foot skips-
I put it back down and my body dips,
I’ve got a new stride,
I’m running straight through this,
Then the devil won’t be able to catch me,
Like back in the early 90’s I’m Carl Lewis
Regardless of how many days I ignore him when I call he answers right back,
Gives me advice, forgives me, and even pats me on the back.
Through the valley of death
With every last breath,
I’ve walked on water and never drowned-
As long as I walk beside Jesus and keep him around,
The devil will always know Jesus walks with me
This is so true, James. I can tell you've been "through the valley" I understand, for I have been there too. He's the Lily of every valley, the Bright and Morning Star of every dark night, and He will never leave us or forsake us, but He teaches us to be obedient to His Word that we may walk in victory.

Once Christ has you in the palm of His hand, the devil will never, ever get near you. We wear His armour of light and evil bounces off it. This is a beautiful testament of Faith and of Hope, James. You have a gift and you have been blessed. I know how it feels to be saved in the nick of time. Believe! He "always" walks with us.

I can relate to this poem- it is how I feel about the Blessed Mother as well. I would love to read your book, the title alone has me intrigued as I have been a Langston Hughes fan since I was in the 5th grade and had to memorize his "Dreams" poem.
