Silent sit through of the anguish
In loss of the loved one,
Never again to hear the charmed voice
Speaking with humor underwritten with laughter.

Youth shines but pale light
On the ravages which await,
Each Year hosting more losses
To the battered Soul within Us.

Once standing at hospital bedside,
Goodbye to the strongest Man I knew;
Now, I suffer the muted horror
Of being stronger than He.

We go on, only a hollow tube,
Drained of it's contents;
Shallow memories alone
Reviving the image of life.
