I am writing this during an election year so we are hearing a lot of debates about the state of our nation. Some of our leaders or would-be leaders are arguing the facts. Do we have a strong economy? Why then, does it cost so much for a gallon of Gas. When I was a kid, a gallon of milk cost a quarter. Now it is nearly two dollar for the same white liquid. When I was a kid it was possible for the local grocery store to thrive. Now they have been driven out of business by large food chains and department stores are now giant malls that buy their products overseas and sell them to you and me. The question troubles me. Do we actually make anything here at home anymore?

High Finance Our politicians today will tell you the economy is strong. Who among us can really tell if they are right or wrong? However questions keep playing across this uneducated mind. If they ever analyzed the fact I wonder what they would find. The first question is a simple point of definition. What is it that they call a strong economy? Do they mistake it for inflation? Yes, some who are already blessed with great earthly riches say the economy is strong. However the middle class is paying for their wonderful success so this cannot last long. Let me tell you what I believe a strong economy would be. There would be enough food, clothes, housing and comforts for you and also me. And there would be more left over to help those who have no home but live in boxes under some tree. When anyone was seen in need they�d never have to ask, for there would be people who would simply want to help them out and try to guard their health Yes, those multi-million dollar businesses would want to share their wealth. For their millions will serve no purpose when there is no middle class. Without the balance of distribution of wealth, it will soon simply pass. And when there are no more weak to trod upon, this is a fact of science That it will simply be a matter of a battle of the giants. Aggression begets aggression and anger brings the same. So our strong economy is really only strong in name. Strength means balance and balance tips the scales not at all. When the scales are tilted our economy is doomed to fall

Distribution of wealth is a sensitive subject. A large proportion of our wealth is earned not distributed, so which part of wealth do we distribute is an ongoing debate. Profit? Poor profit has been given a bad name by Marx.Before profit comes the business has to break even anything above that is the smallest part which is the profit. Some companies dont even make that or even the break even part.
Strong economy does not necessarily mean we are better off. It is the income per capita that tells us if indeed the economy is not only strong but that we are better off.
There is so much bruhaha in political circles about the economy that depends on the electrate being ignorant. About the poor? Sadly, no matter the economic system, there are winners and losers. A guy called Gilder believed poverty to be the spur to improve oneself. Don't know about that, sounds too genetic for me. However, Jesus reminded us that 'the poor ye will always have.'
