They climb trees

As I watch them through the window

They scamper playfully in the trees’ shadow.

I watch them as they climb the tree reaching for the next limb.

They seem to have no fear of height as they try to outrun the one following them.

They love to climb and they love to eat the nuts as well as berries and the like.

They are just like the squirrels who live in the trees except squirrels can’t ride a bike.

So who am I talking about that climb in trees, eat nuts and swing and such for fun?

I speak about my grandchildren playing in the trees, on the ground and soaking up the summer sun.

They share so much in common with the squirrels who love to climb and play.

They’re playful and energetic and can run and climb all day.
