Some of my longer and better poems from High School
“Dragon”
Twisting, Turning, Sinister smoke
Snaking through the air
Orange glow, Sulpherous smell
The Great Wyrm has left his lair!
Scales glinting, Reflecting light
Crops ablaze up north
Twisted teeth, Mangled maw
Issuing searing flames forth!
Flickering flames, Darting sparks
A bellow deep as thunder
With feline grace, and a snarling face
And limbs that can tear you asunder!
‘Saurian snarl, Glorious armor
Scales of green, blue, and gold
A blast of air, a sweeping strafe
A terror from days of old
Swooping low, The villagers flee
A heart that’s cold as steel
Children weep, and grown men creep
Afraid to be his meal!
Leathery wing, Twisted horns
The look of evil so true
Flapping stops, Resounding thump
He’s landed and looking for you!
Reptile eyes, Focusing fast
Your blood runs cold when he sees you
Claws grab, Your belly exposed
And he says “Kitchy-Kitchy-Koo!”
“Fall”
This season I know, and love come.
The light is fuzzy, warm and soft.
Some trees ablaze, with yellow hues.
A bowl of Chestnuts, Almonds too.
This crunching sea, of Summer’s toil.
The soup begins to warm, and boil.
Some trees aglow with warm tinges.
The twisting, turning spirals fall.
Some trees aflame, with fiery fame.
The blackest sky, the whispering wind.
The world is soft, as if in a haze.
Of chilly nights, and breezy days.
We clutch our jackets, close for warmth.
A night, it’s filled with stars.
Some vibrant colors, fill the ground.
A sliver moon, with drifting cloud.
The time of budding, says goodbye.
A Jack-o-Lantern, glows at night.
Trees stretching, skeletal boughs up.
A cool breeze blowing, leaves hop on.
From tree to land, the leaves come all.
Those leaves around me fall, fall, fall…
“Fire”
Of Fire, what can one say
It is so varying in its ways
A glimmering beacon
An airplane that’s stricken
Always so powerfully bold
One can cuddle up warm
Watch the crackling logs burn
But what of its malicious side
Bodies of people blackened and crisp
Smoke from a wall, a trailing whiff
This is the same creature we speak of
One must never play with Fire
For Fire always finds the liar
And forever shall we ponder its ways
