Incredible!! Love the language, love the passion, love it, love it ALL. What a wonderful tribute to the lady who WILL be young
long after we have passed from this vale. You are DE BES'! <3 Pea <3
Almost moved to the Big Easy.
Srange, the turns that determine our faith.
Her unique spirit will survive.

Forgive me for this probably unheard of response but I read "Big Easy" before reading this... you collapsed me with that, now you've done me in, entirely. I kid you not... I am reeling, trying to express my gut and failing miserably. This one had me crying... 'passing the spot' and 'playing for free'... but the 'old girl rising again' clinched it. The dialect is consistent and I don't think this magic poem could have been done as effectively without it. To honor her "when" rather than mourn her "now" is simply heart-wrenching... but it's exactly what makes your tributes perfect to read. I didn't just read, though, I experienced! Sigh... katy xox
Inspiring hope is what you have done, Ron. Your use of language brings it all home and reminds us of from what she came, clawing and scratching from nothing to become the Queen of the Blues. She was birthed from sorrow and oppression, I doubt that a hurricane can keep her down. This is a wonderful write, I truly appreciate the spirit you have created.
Take care,
Sherry
You have outdone yourself Ron! This poem is a classic and I hope it is read by many because it should be in print for all to see! The vernacular is superb!
Ron, I would be touched (more so than usual) if I were that "young lady", you have said what so many more have only tried to say and done so in a manner that no one else thought of...a bit of humor and philosophy rolled into one...enjoyed this offering...Ed
When two men hit the reset button and decide to go out looking for the good in the world, they not only find it but also a lot more.
P.S. The title is listed on Amazon under Look for Something Good by Robert Drews (not by Robert H. Drews)
