While my poetry can sometimes be gloomy, sarcastic, and pessimistic about the human condition, I remain optimistic that, while we've squandered lives and the fruit of our realm in countless false causes, we will, as a human race, survive the upcoming travails upon us and seek the stars.
Optimistic
I am optimistic that we will mend our fences,
mind our tenses, and close the golden door.
That we will seize control and let faith no more,
determine if and how we go fore.
Solve big problems with small footprints,
on our mother's home of birth.
Soil not and save a lot the plenty, beauty,
fauna and flora, of our mother Earth.
Cast out, "go forth and multiply," as a lie,
that keeps us from knowing our true worth.
Save the world with uncommon sense,
scientific knowledge of what is really tense.
Not with slogans and gala events,
glorifying the rich with moralistic pretense.
End destructive wars among ourselves,
grow up and leave our childhood behind.
If we come to know each other as people,
no real differences we will find.
We have the power in our grasp,
to end all evil and make it past.
We can stop the bickering and the bombast.
We can heal the Earth and make it last.
We can keep our eyes on the stars,
and if we are willing, leave ours.
I have always believed that if we meet someone and learn their name, it is difficult to include them in any blanket prejudice that we may possess. The key to the brotherhood of mankind is in getting to know and accept others, their ways, traditions and cultural differences. Healing the planet begins with healing ourselves and that begins with each of us. Beautiful optimistic offering, Ron.

It is good to be optimistic Ron, being affirmative and expecting the best is a gift; especially in these chronically negative days that challenge so much of what we hold dear.
I fear though that if man is the one to save us from ourselves, and the planet - that he so easily destroys in the pursuit of power and mammon - and if history is correct in revealing his tendency towards selfcenteredness, then we are (as a race) on the fast track to destruction based on our long history of trying and failing.
Thought-provoking poem that establishes the writers spiritual beliefs and hopes for a brighter tomorrow. I too want a brighter tomorrow!
In "A Touch of Your Presence" are words that would inspire, encourage and strengthen one's soul when faced with challenges and difficulties and to know the awesomeness of God's power.
