Without intelligently understanding our own evolution, we are doomed.

Poem Artwork

There Go I

Across the sea of knowledge,
into the vast deep unknown,
I search for answers ancient,
I search for my very own.

Wherever there is trouble,
wherever there is strife.
I'm off to find the answers,
and dedicate my life.

To go where there is danger,
to go where there is pain.
To go where there is healing,
to go where there is gain.

For there is no place for ignorance,
when knowledge is all around.
Ignorance only holds us back,
when new insight has been found.

There is only going forward,
there is no going back.
Evolution is a powerful force,
giving strength to what we lack.

The challenges are mounting,
and the unfolding of a new age,
will test our determination,
and our willingness to change.

We will solve our many problems,
and save the Earth once more.
For we have no other choice,
we're the only ones keeping score.

There are no extraterrestrials,
or gods that came before.
We only have our resolve,
and knowledge to bring to fore.

And when we have fully understood,
just what we are here for.
We can move out into space.
There go I... before.

Totally agree with you, Ron. We have got to return to manned exploration of Space to find all the answers we are searching for.

Changes will happen regardless of our belief systems. The results perhaps beyond our imagination at this time. Perhaps not; but it will happen. It's the only thing we can be sure of, there will be change :-) and why the now is most important. Good write.

My goodness, Ron, it's like you reached into my heart and soul tonight. I could have written this - you beat me to it. These lines especially speak to me:

I search for answers ancient,

I search for my very own.

I do this every single day. And I find something else of wonder every day - ordinary miracles, you could say.

Hopefully this understanding of our own evolution will come before that other mindset convinces far too many that we didn't evolve. But, that might be wishful thinking.

I totally agree, but we are far from reaching that goal, and so many today don't even seem to care. So I for one hope that we don't start inhabiting other planets before we learn how to save this one.

Hi Ron,

As science explores further in to space, then the mystery of how the universe began becomes slightly clearer.

How one then deals with their belief or disbelief of a supreme God becomes considerably more contentious.

Considering man made religions are basically built on a fear of the unknown and their somewhat stranger belief of a life after death.

Surely, the time has come for man to reconsider his belief in such allusions of his own creation.

Believing one’s own rhetoric is a common human fault, believing the rhetoric of others is inexcusable.

I was born a lemming
therefore, live as a lemming.
Yet, I still wonder,
as I rush headlong
to that unforgiving sea.

Mor.

well you like all of us as poets and writers are free to voice our opinions but I will agree to disagree " we're the only ones keeping score"--I believe in a day of reckoning not only in this life but in the life to come and all that I have seen and understood leads me to believe a Creator of Love and Holiness silently waits...After pat's comment there is this huge space on my end with a small g--Did God want to post a reply???LOL

Well done Ron, I respect what your are writing about as I was a science buff for many years and I tried figuring life out myself though science. Well I changed my ways because life is hard enough to figure out and it's not all about us. All I know is people let me down and God lifts me up. I have a natural tendency to want to know God more and man less. God is LOVE which is something we can't see. If you can explain why we will kill for Love - something we cannot see then you may begin to enlighten me of why God really is... Anyway, God bless you my friend. It's all a mystery of faith. The opposite of faith is fear.
So I wish you Love, faith and multiple blessings.

This piece speaks well of our innate desire to know it all, to explore, and to our attempts at understand everything that is. But then you say, "There are no extraterrestrials, or gods that came before." One of our greatest limitations, as human beings, is our tendency to rule things out before we have all of the facts. If we are to have open minds it should be in all things. Nice structure and rhythm. M.True

the wording and lyrical flow of this write is outstanding however I agree with both George and Edward that only non-believers of God and His promise of eternal life would appreciate the content which makes one feel as insignificant as a floating piece of dust. we just agree to disagree on this and it has nothing to do with your obvious 'God-given' writing talent...(couldn't resist)

The poetic matter is for those who don't believe there is a God. The poem itself has nice rhythm and that I like not the assumptions it makes.

Well stated except for the ending. With or without God, we can all immerse ourselves and experience life through our senses; then we can analyze, synthesize, and evaluate our new knowledge as well as our apprehensions, fears, expectations, commitments, our moral code, and seek purpose and enlightenment from it all. To accept our own permanent demise at the end of our bodily journey would be to render ourselves as insignificant in our own quest. But against who or what might we be so utterly useless? And why? Without a destination, how might we find any deep and genuine satisfaction in the journey alone? And how do you reconcile believing in a purpose without also acknowledging that we are immersed in something larger than ourselves? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have a very strong feeling that we are not here for anything in particular. I agree with every word of this poem except these . . . "And when we have fully understood, just what we are here for." I am convinced in my mind that we just evolved as did the rest of the living things on earth, but we didn't evolve for any particular reasons, we just are. I accept that wholly.
