a gift given and recieved-maybe or maybe not with underlying meaning

As I stare at your gift to me
My eyes fill and I search
For some imagined deeper meaning
I am desperate to mean something to you

Because I desire to find this meaning
I do - in the face of the mystic foal
And in the swirls of blue and white
Atop the hand tapped design of the silver box

So, thankyou for the gift
I know I imagine more than I should
But in that imagined meaning
The gift is cherished my me, the Receiver

Gifts are so blessed, and at times we wonder of what the gift is and what it bears, yet undeniably when it is given it fills more than the gift itself, that is why it is cherished so much when received...very nice work of thoughts within your poem...

Wishing You and Family a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

We should all cherish our gifts, probably far more often than we actually do.

I think that I always presume that a gift was picked out especially for me and with a lot of love, not obligation, by the buyer. Perhaps this is not true, but it makes me feel much more comfortable to believe that to be so. I put a lot of thought into the gifts I buy for others, perhaps that is why I believe that they do the same. I like this poem, it is very open and honest and will strike a cord with all who read it.
Take care,
Sherry

This is somthing that I think we all have a tendency to do now and then, cummunication reading whether it be in expressions, body language or gift giving isn't always as easy to deciphre as it seems. Well done.
