just some thoughts as i drove from one job to the next

I often find myself impatient

With days so very full

Gotta get from one place to the next

Hardly time for slow and careless drivers

But..I rein myself in

From disgraceful displays of anger

For someday I surely know,

Beyond the shadow of a doubt

I will be the old lady

Slowly driving taking the long way

Hanging on to what’s left of my independence

With the dignity of getting my own self

From one place to the next

And back again

great poetic tune up on patience, i experience the same thing driving back and fourth to work. In the morning I take the beltway which is faster, on the way back home i drive all the way home through the country and take my time. Sometimes I still run into some nuts

The concept of "paying it forward" with wisdom as the valued coin. So easy to forget in the rush of living that the most kindness we can hope to receive is the kindness we take time to give. THE OLD LADY is a good reminder of that. Much gratitude for the read,

Yes wise indeed for too often we all lose sight of just that fact whether it be against the old, the disabled, pregnant mothers or just little children, we all shared most of these or will share them in the future...patience is the wise course of action always.

Thank you for slowing down your car... and not tootin' your horn to urge me to break the speed limit. I'm almost there... bad eyesight and all that stuff. Yes, one's independence is vital, but, Hell, older age will take away all our vitals if we live long enough! Let's go for 101... and then some! Your pen is an able predictor!

Yes it can grate on your nerves but you have explained well the sensitivity and patience we should all have for the driver who drives too slow for our comfort.

Karen,

Old ladies...and old men...hate to give up their independence, especially their cars. We will all be there, someday, by the Grace of God. How would we react?? You've penned a thought provoker here, well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
