78 years have passed

Since the year of his birth in ‘29

His final road trip, he has now taken

From the Colorado Rockies, to the maples of Vermont

He sits to rest atop “Brocks Hill”

Overlooking his old New England home

Where he brought his young wife, and raised his four kids

For fourteen happy years, or so he believed

The tears now flow, and from that hill

He calls his children and let them know

His last will and desire for them to honor

Spread my ashes on Milky Way Farm

Among all the critters and memories dear

We all have our last wishes and the family should be willing to carry those wishes out for us, they are our last words spoken. Thank you for sharing.

I don't know why, but I thought of John Denver when i read this poem. What a bitter sweet picture of love.

When our time comes as it surely will for all of us, to have the family and loved ones to care enough to listen and do what they know will make us go to our graves easier...that is the reward of life.
