In spite of the feel good sound of, "Do whatever feels Good", And, "Whatever makes you happy, just go with the flow",
There is, I believe, a right and wrong, a black and white,
And a whole lot less gray area for folks to flounder in.
Amidst the myriad of 'politically correct' and all the 'feel good' clichés,
The truth is there, it has just been muddied,
By double talk and too many kudos given,
Pats on the back and lies are told, When the truth would make a better man.
Yes, truth is usually discernible, but the grey-area people can't be discounted; we've all been there wondering who the heck to believe.
Don't follow leaders unless you feel love, compassion and good sense emanating from them. Think of George Orwell's 1984, 2+2 were 5 there, and no one except winston gave it a thought.
You are so 'right on!' Enough of this jibberish - speak the truth. It may be complicated, but then there is no mistaking what is being said. I hate 'double talk.'
great poem to ponder Karen, I believe in truth and common sense. But perjury is getting on the witness stand lying when there is a chance of getting caught. You can say whatever you want as long as you don't get caught or it is proved that you committed perjury. A fool tells a lie knowing the truth will be found out. A wise man doesn't lie at all, or at least keeps his mouth shut. President Clinton lied knowing his secret might be revealed, I would have told the truth and asked for forgiveness like the govenor of New York did. Perjury is lying on the witness stand though. Anyway, truth only lies in the cousicious of better people. There's an outer truth and an inner truth, the outer truth stands strong but the inner truth wavers inside selfish minds. hugs my dear poetess.

Like you, I usually see most things in black and white, in right and wrong, and it usually makes my life much easier and enables me to quickly make decisions. But I think many like to see things in many shades of grey, which makes the 'fudge factor' much easier.
I am 100% with you, I have always told my children it is the lies that upsets one, it is best to be honest and deal with it so life can go on.One lie always needs another and another etc. to cover it up and sooner or later you forget what you've said because it was a lie. Thank you Karen.
Lying is kinda like embezzlement, "No one has ever thought about doing it the way I will do it."

I must agree with you 100% on this for often words are spoken just to fill the vacant space when it is uncomfortable to say what you really want to say...but is it really a good idea to do that?
The truth is not a relative concept. It is not a guess. It is an inclusive and irrefutable fact that throughout the history of human knowledge has never been assimiliated. We wayward it with fairy tales or spout the tenet All is One without the foggiest notion of how all being one actually works. We do not understand that the truth is blocked from us at every turn by a force of nature we ourselves create. We must come to terms with this force before we can gain the truth.
