Happily Ever After

For my newest student--a sweet little china doll-

You speak in fairy tales, of happy ever after,

Excited, you speak of your life’s dream,

And your very own custom made Prince Charming,

Whom you seek out at every turn.

But drama follows you like a lost puppy,

There’s no escaping the “he said, she said” world.

The girls want to fight you for the boys that are “theirs,”

And the boys fall over themselves to have you look their way.

It is all just too much, though very exciting,

But fairy tales don’t just exist, my dear,

They are not handed out as gifts for all,

Happily ever after must be sweated for, molded and nurtured.

I like it a lot; but i must say i am not a believer in Fairytales or ahppy endings and i amnot even 20! i think you must believe in happy endings on order to get one. But i like your style of poetry its very truthful.

Bella.

"Happily ever after must be sweated for, molded and nurtured."

Never a more meaningful statement. The whole truth and nothing but the truth!!!

I concur with Felix . . . Life has enough heartache . . . Children need to be children for a time before dealing with the ugliness of life as it really is . . . We seem to want to make children "grown" much, much too early these days . . . I quite understand where you are coming from, but let them believe in Santa Claus as long as they can . . .

Yes your words are true but...in the young they need to believe at least for a little while in fairy tales and true love stories for if not romance and love would grind to a halt.

great down to earth versing, love this Karen. And you're right happiness doesn't come easy, it has to be earned and learned. It comes and goes, comes back again, then leaves, tricks and decieves until the mind finally figures the math.
Happiness is a choice, and it better be a strong choice or the rollercoaster rides gets even worse
