What I Do

When my unheard prayers,

Leave me faithless and wanting,

And “By the grace of God”, and “Gods will”,

Ring empty on my tortured ears,

I am left with the realization that…,

There is only what I do,

And what I don’t do.

What resides in my heart,

And develops in my soul,

Will be the governing body for both of these.

For in any walk of life,

If the Ten Commandments are adhered to,

Or any other law, of any other god followed;

Who I choose to become will reflect the idea of God,

And each step taken will become my destiny.

I believe all prayers are answered when and how they are meant to be answered. Thank you for sharing Karen.

Are there truly 'unheard prayers'? Strong write with a message, I'd say.

I enjoyed this one very much Karen. I am agnostic and though I do not believe in organized religions I do believe in a greater power and having been raised knowing the commandments and morals of a Christian society I still do my best to live by the golden rule so to speak.

I must agree with Bargara and would like to add that I beleave there is one true and living God, a God not made by human hands or by human imagination. Any god that I could imagine or creat in my own mind or heart would not be a god big enough to do all the things that the one true living God did. I would no more try to recreat this God than I would try to recreat the reality of my own mother or father for to do so would not change them, only my oppinion of them.

God's reflection shines bright from the eyes of those who know Him. Once we become a child of God, our lives change dramatically and others can see and feel that He lives in us. A nice write.

So much truth in this write, Karen, particularly in the final stanza, I think. I love the honesty and integrity of the soul-search here. Certainly, what we truly believe in our heart of heart will determine how we act and be reflected in the choices we make, when the chips are down. Kate xx

Yes ... we become like the god or God that we worship. We embody the mannerisms and the fragrances. We become reflections. There is wisdom here that has been gleaned from deep experience.

Prayers help us to reach out toward those blessings that give us strength and help us resolve our problems. Sometimes you have to keep praying and searching for answers because there are times when they don't come easily.
