It Just Is

It should have been me who took ill,

I, the tough one, big and strong,

The moose, the draft horse,

She the gazelle, the sleek thoroughbred.

The questions can all be asked,

But there are no reasonable answers.

Good folk speak of God’s will,

But…none of this has anything to do with god’s will.

It has nothing to do with anything,

Not good or bad karma,

Or evil versus virtue, period,

It just is.

Understanding Gods will in all things is one of the enduring mysteries in this world. One thing I have learned - no ... one thing that is deeply engrained in me, is that Gods thoughts are not my thoughts, and His ways are not my ways.

There is much that we will never understand about misery and suffering and sickness and sacrifice. We are here at this moment in time and God has allowed it for a reason.
Blessings Karen ...

This is a hard one to comment on because I am a true believer and in my heart know that there is a loving and caring God. I see it everyday in my work and I don't think I could do what I do if I didn't have my faith to help me through each day. God bless you Karen.

You are right. No matter what philosophical view you take on it, or the lack of one, all roads lead to this end. Excellent.

Karen, I hope you discover a good spiritualist one day and receive positive proof that life goes on. Then your grieving will be over
and death won't hold such terror or be such a full-stop... best wishes from a fellow questioner!

As I read this, my heart aches for my children, now angels. Why them? Why not me? To try and answer this question, is as futile as attempting to empty to ocean with a teaspoon - it will never happen. Yet, the question lingers in ones mind. The acceptance of "It Just Is" is a powerful, yet, tender acknowledgement of our humanity and frailty.

May God's blessings and love guide you through your journey. Kathy

I try not to ask the WHY question. It's all God's will. Troy's little niece has a white matter disease and will eventually die from it. She just turned 6. Why is God going to take her away? Because she's needed in a better place.

great verse to ponder Karen, yes the moment it happens, it just is, as you say. Then we sit and wonder if anything could have been done to prevent, some people blame God. In my world God is the creator and preventor, he may or may not step in. I never look at him as the cause. God doesn't have to cause anything, life is just a fragile experience, of course God created it this way, so I can see why others blame. Anyway you are a lucky person if you have no phony friends, after I find out how phony my friends are I clean house in a nice way, I don't treat them mean unecessarily, I just keep my distance, when they show up I treat them kind, same way with phony family. You're right Karen, I do give chit, in fact all my life I've gave too much of a chit to people who don't deserve, especially some in my family. I tried for years to help my mom and younger brothers and nephews, they were into the drugs, never hardly worked, mom sheltered irresponsiblity, I was a reponsible son, I always worked never tried to use mom, but a few of my younger brothers and nephews used her kindness, stole from her, wouldn't work, when I tried to intervien, mom would turn against me, told me to mind my business, she was the mother and I was the son, I knew eventually she would lose, finally after the years past she lost, lost her home, a house that should have been paid for thirty years ago, she still owed 80,000 dollars, her bills were off the hook, after years of trying I finally gave up and quit giving a chit, I didn't speak to mom or go home for about 10 years, then one day she finally lost her home, the lazy drug using younger ones finally got a big dose of real life, there was no one else to use, no one would take them in, not even my nephews mother who wouldn't let them use her like mom did, they all had to get out and work, one of them lived in a car, the other one had to finally deal with his drug addiction. Moms in an assisted care facility, during ok now. Yes I do give a chit, but they burned me out, after I reached age 50 i said this is it, I don't give a chit what anyone else is doing, I'm going to take care of my house hold and thats it, I spent half of my life dealing with other peoples stupid bullchit, the next half of my life is for me only, check this out, dad and mom had eight kids together, after I turned nine mom left dad because he beat her, talking about not giving a chit, dad was a good example, he never tried to do anything for us, nothing, wouldn't say nothing, wouldn't do nothing, hugs my dear

You are right, and we all tend to ask that same question...why am I not the one...and when the teardrops dry and the heartache subsides to a barable level we know as you attest to in this write...it is.

This is a question that we often asked ourselves

when a love ones become ill or its hurting and

you wish you could take their pain away

Why not me...Why?

I guess will get our answer when we meet with our creator
But don’t give up Hope
Stay positive

You and your sister are in my thoughts and prayers!

So many times in life we ask the question, "Why?," and often times there are no answers...other than "because." You have written so well about that here, Karen.
