Memories for Sale
Can a memory be sold?
Is it possible to put a price,
On days of laughter and nights of love,
Made upon this hardwood bed?
A price is chosen and the sticker put in place,
Those who slept here have now passed on,
And here, a young couple, fingers entwined,
Caress the patina and the curves of the oak.
She looks at him with those bedroom eyes,
There is no hesitation as he pays the price,
So the bed is sold, but not the memories,
These two will have to make their own.

And as Fee said, one heck of a haunting question.

Absolutely gorgeous, powerfully penned. Concur with Ed Matlack - they can be sold, but not forgotten.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

This is sweet. There are treasures in life that go beyond possessions, and "we make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give."
Memories are some of life's treasures.
