Proof

Dirty kitty footprints run up and over,

The hood and windshield of my truck,

Proof that I am chosen by those who share,

My independent and free spirited nature.

There are little shoes and dress up clothes,

Scattered helter-skelter around my house,

Proof that I am blessed to live with a little girl,

Whose arms around my neck humble me with her love.

And pieces of alfalfa hay cling to my hair,

And a smudge of green is smeared across my sleeve,

By the muzzle of my equine friend, proof again,

That I am respected by my benevolent friends.

My post office box has bills to be paid,

Proof of all I have, and a reminder to me to be grateful,

And for that I am glad to pay.

There’s dog hair on my carpet, and even on my shirt,

And a nudge of a wet nose to greet me at dawn,

Proof that I am loved by one,

Who is happy and loyal to a fault.

Your love of life and all of God's creatures from dogs to horses to people flows into your words and writes and I am so glad to have made a friend of such a person.

Wonderful, Karen! I'd be lost without my dog's excited greeting every time I come home ... even if I've only been gone a half-hour.

Printing this out for my niece who I'm visiting at the moment. I'll post it on the fridge for her to see when she comes home from work. I once read that gratitude is the highest form of praise. You embody that spirit. Thank you, Karen...Lin

And your poem is proof that you are an amazing woman. I loved this poem Karen, and it makes one think about all the things that we should not take for granted and embrace as the positives in our lives.
Much peace, love, and light,

To be surrounded by those that give love without expecting nothing in return but taking you as one of them...yes, you are blessed.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
