Finally
Finally I was able to hug and to hold,
My grown up baby son.
And all the anguish that I had held in,
All the hurt in me from the choices he made,
Came flooding out of me, softening my anguish.
He has, so sadly, been confined,
And getting help as he heals, body and soul,
Through the days and months, of my own endless pain,
As my sister fought to live, and my father passed away.
And he wasn’t there for his beloved Christmas dinner,
Or for pecan pie and thanksgiving turkey,
He missed his son’s first steps and his precious first words.
But in our embrace, in spite of such sadness,
I believe he is done with his addiction,
I believe he is ready to be the kind of man I raised,
And the Man he desires himself to be.

I'm sure your unconditional love and support played a big part in his recovery. I love happy endings. He will be the man he desires himself to be. Bless you both and all the family,
Marcia
