Role Model

She was contentment at its best,

Wrapped up in grandpa’s arms,

A little baby wrapped in pink,

A lacey bonnet on her head.

He, the father of five himself,

Volunteered to tend this treasure,

The rest of his family were off to town,

He and Jenny were just out walking.

His tenderness laughed in the face,

Of those TV fathers whom we have made famous,

Ed Bundy and Homer Simpson et al,

Such sorry examples of role models for our boys.

And I think I fell in love with this man,

And the little grandchild, Jenny.

For he embodied the idea of a strong man,

The protector of all those in need.
