Long ago we took our vows,
promising to live our lives together until the end,
not knowing the obstacles and hardships we'd face,
our love...pure, respectful, and no reason to pretend.

We struggled through many years of uncertainties,
unable to see the end of the tunnel for many years,
hoping we could make ends meet to keep a meal on the table,
many times...I hid my agony and a fear you'd see my tears.

You knew my concerns and my anxieties...never telling me,
you'd kiss my brow and pat my cheeks, whispering your love,
a cheeriness would glow on my face and a twinkle in my eye,
I felt secure, knowing you worked hard to keep us fed and snug.

Years ran away like clouds drifting through a weathering sky,
we'd lay hours loving each other like it would be the last time,
never a feeling of monotony...passions and desires lit up our spirits,
releasing and satisfying every fiber until the ending of the sublime.

I've been your woman, our children's Mother, your lover, your friend,
we made a commitment to live our lives together until the end,
you've been my man, head of household, a father, my lover, my pal,
you've given all of yourself...I'm a woman who hit a gigantic win.

We're both older and feeling our aches and pains,
we still love each other, playing our teasing games,
as I look into your blue eyes...I feel a fervor and so alive,
