Poetry by Liana Margiva

 Blue Eyes

Love, uninvited, broke into the heart,

Declared its unrequited status from the start.

The joy it never had the heart is mourning,

Love slipped away and misery is dawning.

Those eyes that recently belonged to stranger

Became so intimate, so dear and so blue

Like summer sky at noon.

They broke the hibernation of the soul,

They pierced the heart with gaze as sharp as spear.

Irrel’vant feeling, rudely thus awakened,

In heart from deep repose withdrawn, is gently weeping

Unable to perceive why it was brought from slumber

Just to be thrown into solitude’s abyss.

Long time ago the heart to love bade farewell

And locked itself in solitary shell.

Yet this encounter dormant stirred emotions

And plunged into misery again.

No, not those blue eyes ever could conceive

The weight of sorrow hidden in the eyes

That failed to yield a love-filled gaze;

Nor could they fathom the amount of tears

That froze in them, awaiting tender glance,

Unable to burst out from the heart

Abandoning the blueness of the vessels,

When heart has not been warmed by love!

Perhaps, of those eyes the heart continued dreaming,

It prayed to stars for it, like beggar begs for bread.

Yet, once they meet, they are destined to part

Forever, till the end of life, until the moment

When Black Ripper comes knocking at the door.

Again the heart is destined to exist

Apart from him, who’s eyes the heart invaded,

Yet, it is used to dwell in realm of sorrow,

Unloved by one it cared for the most.

A lonely heart has few delights remaining:

Love never warmed it up, it dwells in realm of dreams:

The smiling eyes of blue in heart forever linger.

The stars are distant, yet, the dreams can bring them closer.

Years are rushing by

In an unstoppable countdown,

But the lonely heart is sad no more,

Now it has the blue eyes

To dream about, to secretly adore.

So no one could guess

Who broke its repose,

Who it desires, who it wails about

Under the winter sun which has no fire.

Words are futile to speak about love,

They lack the fire that consumes the heart.

It is the eyes that love commute the best,

The grief in them reflects the angst of soul.

Love is acknowledged by the tight embrace,

Which screams the warmth of soul, entire passion,

Entire grief and pain of heart that longs for you!

Silence is not the answer either. Words lets someone know you are there. Alive and willing to share a love that has no compare. Once the breath of love touches you, you are gone and will not return.

Love and pain walk hand in hand in this poem of passion. Everything seems to concentrate in the eyes and yet, the lines that strike me the most are about language and its irrelevance when confronted with passion:
Words are futile to speak about love,
They lack the fire that consumes the heart.
Nice to read you again!

Deep blue eyes have a way of touching ones soul in unique ways. My grandpa had the deepest blue eyes I have ever seen. It seemed that I could look into their endless depths and feel tranquil and safe. He was such a good, caring man. One of my son's has Grandpa's blue eyes too.

Your poems always touch my heart ! They have such depth and take one there ! Blessings to you my dear friend....M

TO LIVE 'WITH' MEMORIES IS ONE THING, BUT TO LIVE 'IN' MEMORIES IS QUIET ANOTHER THING. THIS CAN BE GOOD OR BAD...YET, NO ONE CAN JUDGE. SO, IF ONE HAS FOUND 'NOTHING' TO REPLACE THE EMPTINESS OF WHAT ONE HAS LOST, THEN TO WALK IN MEMORIES, IS DEFINITELY AN ALTERNATIVE TO LAYING...IN PAIN. A FANTASTIC WORK, LIANA...ENJOYED IMMENSELY. All I could think about as I read this was, Willie Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. Although it may have lost something in translation, your poem reflects the same kind of loss. Regained in memory has a great love that was still unrequited.

Ah, love. It is difficult to explain but always worth exploring its meaning, as you have admirably done here in this excellent, heart-felt poem.

Ahhh . . . "Words are futile to speak about love," but we use them repeatedly over and over again. Words are us.
