LAST WORDS

Too tired now, my Father,
to read Your holy word;
Too tired to recall those days
when my spirit soared,
When my body was still strong
and my mind was still young;
When I joined with abandon
in the songs that were sung.

Now my footsteps are falt'ring
as I journey toward home;
Now my hands start to tremble
and my mind tends to roam.
Thank You, Lord, for understanding,
now that I've grown old,
for cherishing old folks like me--
I'm still part of Your fold.

Thank You, Lord, for holding me
in Your almighty hand
to carry me home safely
to that heavenly land.
In my mind, I see my Jesus--
Yes, I think He's calling me.
Now He's reaching out in welcome--
