Tears for Esa

Baby Esa, six months old, has multiple cancerous tumors in both eyes. Her parents post updates almost daily at caringbridge.org. Her name is Teresa Neiswender. She has now had 5 days of chemo, with pain, fevers, and a white blood count that today is 0. I hope you will add your prayers to those of many others now that you know about Baby Esa's illness.

TEARS  FOR  ESA

A wee little girl lies sleeping;
She knows not what lies ahead.
For her parents, a nightmare is looming;
their hearts are filled with dread.
They prayed, they believed God would heal
their baby, the joy of their hearts;
but today, for their sweet little Esa,
infusions of chemo will start.

Still pray, frightened Mommy and Daddy,
though God seems to be so far away.
He loves you more than you can fathom;
He's with you each step of the way.
He knows the path you are treading
is frightening, dark and untried,
but He holds your sweet babe in His heart
and He knows every tear you have cried.

Why must babies suffer and parents' hearts break?
Such questions, we can't understand.
The Lord knows the reason that's hidden to us;
He holds you secure in His hand.
Even though you can't see His hand in your pain,
Some day He'll explain it to you;
then you'll know as He's wiping the tears
from your eyes,
Your God has been faithful and true .

"...And God will wipe away ever tear from their eyes."
Revelation 7:17  NIV

Connie - Thank you for sharing. I will keep Esa, her parents and all the rest of the family in my prayers. Your poem speaks so well about the sadness, fear and hope that is felt by the parents. Only they truly understand the toll that this is taking on them. Yet, God will give them the strength to face whatever will come. He is always at our side, giving us strength, courage and faith.

God bless you. Kathy

Connie,

Hearing something like this angers me...why does God allow something like this to happen? Children, especially babies, should not suffer, be born with devastating disabilities, get sick, have cancer. A pastor told me once it's because of the sins of the parents...that doesn't make sense. I'm not angry at God, just don't understand. I will pray for the little one and her parents.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

No child, particularly a baby, should have to suffer. Oh, how sad! Esa is indeed in our prayers; we are praying for healing/strength!

Thanks for letting us know!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <
