When I have left this earthly scene,
in heaven awakened, as in a dream,
What will remain to mark my place
or tell the world "This was my space!"
Will an echo of my laughter ring,
a memory tugging at heart strings?
Will someone cringe from cruel ire,
a pointed barb from murk and mire,
Yet someone else remember still
I kindly helped when she was ill?
My soul will long to know for sure
the impact that I left was pure;
To know that deeds, though finished now,
will follow on and still somehow

Thank you, my friends, for your very kind reviews! Pat, the words of the song I shared with you are precious words for me. My younger brother whose name was Pat (Patrick), had terminal cancer. He died at the age of 29. He was my kids' favorite uncle! He loved the song Turn Your eyes Upon Jesus; it helped him and his young wife to keep trusting Jesus during that hard year.
It was also sung at his funeral and then the words "Looking Unto Jesus" (from a verse in the Bible)was engraved on his tombstone.
I hope no one feels that this is morbid...to me the memories are precious, and the song is so inspiring.
