The runt of the litter, blue-eyed, she came to our house with 3 kinds of worms. What a special kitty!
Little Dominatrix,
six pound flame point with
faded blue denim eyes,
a nose and paddy paws of
bubblegum pink.
She's purring
--just the smallest rattle--
and kneading my stomach fiercely,
bringing me up from the deep
still waters of sleep.
Am I at last become her mother?
or am I simply the under-cat,
my status slipping
ever further,
like the couch,
clawed and used
as a comforter by felines?
Her kitty kitty kitty, is she coming? I love white cats. But mine is all gray. She uses her claws to kneed my stomach too in the morning at times. Doesn't like held very long.
Juliet,
When I was 13 years old, I was blessed by a runt Persian kitten that I named Shortie. Her hind legs were shorter than her front ones, but she was one of the bravest kitties I've ever seen. We had her for 12 1/2 years and what a funny and fine cat she grew to be.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
