I was sentenced to watch Jack Nicholson in Anger Management twice...somewhat fun show...at least I laughed a lot...but it doesn't sound like you're laughing much here, Liz. This is a very interesting write, but please due turn to humor and the uplifting when you can. Unfortunately your description of inane television is so very true... what happened to the Jack Benny's and the Red Skelton's who had the talent to make a laugh on the slightest turn. I don't totally want to be where I am at now, so you have my first-hand sympathy.

I can relate to this because I was taken to such a place against my will once. I can empathize. I wish you the very best, Liz. Love and peace,

This rings very true to me, Liz. I can see and feel it all. I don't feel so very far removed from this at the best of times, having had my childhood Sundays spent in one such unit, visiting my Dad. I, too, could never decide whether I was the grown up or the very unorthodox adults around me. And yes, anger management is a very real need to vent all such frustration sorrounding such experiences. Great write and the touvh of humor is a sweet add on.

Locked away, I grew really weird,
Now I need anger management.

I felt that way in my job, so I retired, and now I feel fine.

The beginning of the poem had me remembering standing in line to vote yesterday...for over two hours...
but I doubt that is what the poem is about.

There has to be a metaphor somewhere but I'm missing it unless this is about drug use. Clue me in poet. I mean no disrespect. I just hate it when I don't "get" a poem.
