The question on life goes on unabated,
And cries for a good answer to be stated.
But answers don’t come at all with ease,
For neither side will the other appease.
The question to me, on equity seems to hinge.
Future generations have rights we’ll impinge
If in excess of personal replacement we breed,
Or vexations of surplus masses fail to heed.
So employ conception control when effective,
Else early on birth control must be elective,
To quickly correct a mistake committed,
And pre-mistake normalcy retrofitted.
So what deeper meaning is “pro-life” assigned
When the hyphenated word is carefully defined?
“Human life in big numbers is meant,”
Say folk who claim the label’s God sent.
The “Pro-life” here show a mentality,
Of ancient’s very high child mortality.
Folks had to parent early and often,
Frequent impact of death to soften.
But times change, it’s not now that age,
The problem now is of a different gage.
Medical technology we’ve turned to,
And far more children make it through.
Truth is, “Pro-life,” as a descriptive word,
Was hijacked by proponents of the absurd.
How can earth, one simultaneously degrade
With “Pro-life” label prominently displayed?
Just look very closely and you’ll see
A keener definition is meant to be.
“Pro” says I’m for it all the way!
“Life,” says robust quality every day.
Joyous relation in marriage with mate,
Careful parenting so offspring will rate.
Appreciation of a precious child’s birth,
Satisfaction teaching bounty of earth.
Drawing on good humor and jubilation,
Taking great pleasure in friends’ elation.
Loving the solitudes for healthy emotions,
Reveling in liberty and freedom of notions.
Finding quality in opportunities pending,
And demanding dignity for life’s ending.
In short, loving quality every day,
Is true “Pro-life” in every way.
