Author Sharon Lockwood writes metaphoric peotry; a relationship between people and wild flowers.

Don’t touch the petals, stinging nettle, vines intertwined
Shooting out, up and over perhaps best to decline
But to reach for the sturdy and solid beware
Its needles are hidden from sight so take care
Caution the motives behind every leaf
What turns up before you may bring disbelief.

Don’t pick the flower that towers, poisonous dust
Blowing out, up and over perhaps not to trust
But to breathe in its alluring fragrance, think twice
Its subtle powder may burn its scars are the price
Imprudence may lead with temptation your friend
Its elegant beauty alone may provoke you to bend.

Don’t pull up the core, furthermore, deeply rooted
Grounded under, up and over perhaps rightly suited
But to dig for its strength to find a powerful wrath
Its solid structure behooves most crossing its path
Standing steadfast, protected, survival all it knows
Fighting the elements to just thrive as it grows.

Don’t pick that which invites, its sights, wearing eyes
Peering out, up and over, the element of surprise
But to destroy what is standing because it is there
Its revenge can’t be bartered for flowers don’t care
Resuming onward and upward, holding their own
Advantageously flourish, once again fully grown.
