"There's and Owl in my Maple Tree" is a true to life reaction, inspirational poem that contradicts social beliefs.
It can leave you happy in one respect or sad in another for the loss of a mother and how each one's pain is uniquely viewed.

THERE’S AN OWL IN MY MAPLE TREE

There’s an owl in my Maple tree
Not really.... it’s only fake, you see
She watches hither on her branch
Always, and e’er staring at me

Now this very wise owl, so “they” say
Symbolizes good luck and health
And all the long days of prospering wealth
So, I bought it for my mother
and hung it over her bed in hopes, that it would
comfort her

She knew it was her time to say,
“goodbye...it’s time for me to go”...
But accepted my last present
regardless of what “they” know

There’s an owl in my Maple tree
Who saw me pray to God
“Don’t take her away, oh please!...
I said, “let me keep my mom!”

I bowed and begged but then... and suddenly,
she was gone...
Now, it took me a little while, but then I
unpacked it so carefully
I wanted to cherish this last present and all her memories

This owl means more to me...will “they” ever know?
I even say hello to her if I ever feel the need
It greets me in my morning time
and always says goodnight!
My owl seems to shine and hoot...
“Who” are “they” to cite!

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
