Poem Artwork

Crawling
into the way, way back
of her closet,
created behind the eaves
Far side of the get up’s
for this season,
and in back of the garb
for next

Quieted,
in her hiding spot,
that no one knew about
. . . a feat in itself, for herself
She’d fret,
if ever,
having her swear to,
if she were asked to,  keep a secret!

Thither
on the ceiling,
she drew pictures
and penciled in her life’s memories
Remembering . . .
while lying there,
on a heap of old, neglected stuffed animals
She rationalized. . . .

Time,
as it brings her other places,
someone might find this, her prescience,
knows what that she’s about . . .
and with whom she did, done, and had her doubts,
and all her sins . . .
"God forbid!", she spit
. . .and erased it!

Silence is the perfect cape to wear while hiding in a secret place you can call your own. Lest you space be violated, you even draw on the wall with silent marks instead of chalk screaming across the blackboard.

I remember that closet...long closet... and the one off the hall bath was even more fun to hide in. While you were scribing on the walls I was in the barn talking my cares away to my horses. Lets go knock on the door and see if it is still there Kimmy. I know you and no way would you spit that away. Thanks for the memory sis,
Love it!!

Kimmy ...
This works beautifully as a metaphor as well as a physical place. A place within, most secret, private where we must go to listen, reflect, heal and move on. Loved the imagery and the message.

An excellent write my friend, you captivated me from the beginning with this write...reminded me of the many times that I hid in my secret place inside the barn where I would write my thoughts, memories, and dreams...in my cherished diary....enjoyed this much!

Excellent! You have nailed something here that could easily apply to any child or artist, writer ... anyone who creates or remembers and wants to keep track of it.

Love how you kind of seperated her prescience, or fore-knowledge of things, and made it a muse of sorts looking out for her. I enjoyed this Kimmy friend.

Blessings ...
Richard

Life is but "A Spit In Time"
can't erase it so...I say
be happy with who you are.
No one else like you Kimmy!
I can relate though to destroying
my journals, but then thought better
of it. I Am What I Am as Popeye says lol

WEll, done there. My thoughts of journals written years ago that I would tear the pages out and rip apart for fear if someone found them and read them, I couldn't bear others to know such stuff. how much and what great stuff I distroyed doing that. I could picture this child in her secret place writing and then spitting it all away. Great write. lady J

I wish I had thought of a spit when I was a child. Might have saved me a spanking when I wrote or drew pictures on the wall. Great write, Kimmey, and I love your artwork.

Fascinating, and I would bet many a writer in their personal journals have done the same.

Kimmy...this is a treat! I have found a few minutes to steal this first free Saturday morning in forever and I am drawn into that oh so familiar closet of memories. I do know that closet and the seasons and the almost forgotten piles of soft pillowed pals...I even remember so vividly, thanks to your incredible nudge, that house and those years. My closet now is not so inviting and I may have found other substitutes for it...but the concept is there and the words purposefully indellible. Oh my gosh girl...thank you for sharing your 'closet' with me...did it happen sometime years and years ago. It feels like it did. I REALLY like this one Kimmy!
Love,
Taylor

A flame surrounded by darkness, she is hiding for keeping secrets, then...time make the flame flicker to cast a fleeing light over something past, she panic and try to erase the past, but time will not allowe it.
A mystical one this is.

The secrets that we all posess even from the ones we hold nearest and dearest are in themselves intimidating to say the least. We say we are honest but...don't we all have secret thoughts, desires, cravings, fears or other things that we dare not tell...

Love the thoughts in this poem. The core of her being could somehow be discovered; something she fears. Yet it is as though she is drawing Egyptian hieroglyphics in her own secret space.

Hehehe!!! I really love this one Kimmers! Excellent title, too. Deep in the dark we scribble our diary in shadows, but never meant to ever see the light of day. Erase it before someone sees. Quick!
