A Song of the Ruffed Grouse
Seated on the snow laden branches of a Bosc
Treed in the clime of evergreen wreaths . . . My God!
Some people sang of a jolly fat man who’s coming
Off furred cuffs . . . holding,“Two turtle doves. . ."
I believe. . .
Faith, Hope, and Charity
Of these, seen, three chickens strutting by
. . . clucked French to me!
And, . . . a little poor boy drummed . . . “rum pa pum pum . . ."
Reminds. . .
There’s always something to give!
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
The roosters, four, our passions find. . .
They feed, for you and me...(. . . and who doesn’t need a cock-a-doodle-doo, due time! Listen in!)
“The Christmas Song “, “chestnuts roasting on an open fire. . . ”
But, spot the part that overpowers, “. . . five golden rings!” “There’s No Place Like Being Home for Christmas!”
Decorating spruce, “O’ Christmas Tree!”
The embellishments unwrap a presence Of me!
. . . as in, Pentateuch, when we all fell from grace!
Six water birds laid their eggs to create the earth
Sacraments, a swim
Of seven swans, swum, I guess?
To picture . . . “eight maids a milking,” Is to eye
Nothing other than
Such blessedness!
Of "Nine ladies dancing. . .", caressing the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit
Ten Lords jump in!. . . “Cook us a ham for dinner, woman!”
“Never!, Don’t be crooked!”, “For goodness sakes,” you better be good!
Still, yessed, another eleven blew on their little bugles
Like, how Angels blow brass!. . . in my “Winter Wonderland”
I can imagine . . . “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer” and Ruffed Grouse!
“The Twelve Days of Christmas?”
I’m plumbed all in pud!
A Lamb, O’ Blessed yean!. . . He makes me sing!
“Away in The Manger,” ruminates
My Truest Love. . .I hear “Jingle Bells!”
I sing “We Three Kings . . . “
I wish “We Wish, You a Merry Christmas,” , and a Happy, Happy New Year!
Another Kimmy Original! Never saw 'em in a pear tree, but have harvested them partridges [ruffed grouse] from my car grill already warmed for roasting--yummy!
You are the AD paradigm of happy thoughts and optimism, when silence oppress us you come around like thousand TinkerBells, when anyone is sad you come with a flurry of optimistics words...
and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
...what a fun musical poetry feast Kimmy...it is as if I skipped across a Christmas Album of Greatest Hits...and then again...your magic touch with words.
enjoyed this one much...

A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.

I like it "From Ruffed Grouse to A King".
"Decorating spruce, “O’ Christmas Tree!”
The embellishments unwrap a presence Of me!
