"Life for me ain't been no crystal stair"
It took me a few years
But I know exactly what he meant.
"It's had tacks and splinters and
boards torn up, child places with no
carpet on the floor."
The house in which I was born had splinters.
I don't think the buffer had been invented
yet, but somehow if we were lucky we could
skip over the wood to the linoleum from room to room, other than the outhouse.
"Bare, but all the time, I'se been climbing on and reaching higher landing and turning corners" Sometimes the landings were hard to climb and some corners I had no business.
"And sometime in the dark whar thar ain't been no light." There were plenty of dark and sinful places I traveled, 'trying to find myself'. Looking at but not within.
Praise the Lord I found what has been with me all the while . The Holy Spirit was in me. I found myself in my bathroom mirror.
Behold, in your eyes is your spiritual image.
