Thoughts From The Ozone

As economists and environmental scientists consider the drastic measures that will be required if the nation is to meet smog-reduction goals, many are coming to the conclusion they would once have considered unthinkable: The effort may not be worth it.

Ozone is the major component of smog and an irritant to the lungs. Vehicles and industry generate about three-fourths of the 23 million tons of ozone-producing chemicals, mainly hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides, released each year in the United States. Scientists say the methods being used to control these sources will no longer produce major gains, however.

Instead, the EPA and independent scientists have concluded, efforts will have to focus on thousands of small sources, like solvents used to clean the home, gasoline powered lawn mowers, starter fluids for back yard barbecues, hair sprays, windshield cleaners, even bakeries that emit alcohol vapors from yeast growing in bread dough……

For heaven's sake here is the environment going down the tubes,

And experts on the ozone layer are concerned about barbecues?

The starter fluid from the can that gets squirted on the coals?

Why this is of so great a concern, heaven only knows!

Sillier, they are also concerned with the gas of leavening bread

That gets released in the fermenting process, when it's at a head.

Dieticians say what can kill you is a daily dose of Twinkie,

But kill you before you eat them? The evidence is too skimpy.

A bigger threat is the window cleaner under your kitchen sink?

Another brilliant solution from "experts" paid to think.

Amazing! Their concern with such as the air around us crumbles,

We watch as the touted "expert" stumbles and fumbles and bumbles.

Money is tossed at commission studies headed by consultants

Whose primary conclusions have only wallet thickening resultants.

Claiming that all the "widgets" put on smokestacks and cars fail,

It is perhaps the case that the only solution is to put polluters in jail!

The problem is not that we must the ozone polution reduce.

It's that it be ELIMINATED, Sherlock Holmes not needed to deduce

That we are strangling our earth with fumes of a noxious sort,

Make the violators guilty of a crime and not just liable in tort.

The danger to our environment is not from mowers cutting grass,

It's from millions of cars burning billions of gallons of gas!

Someday we'll need an authority to simply utter, "Dammit,

No more gas burning cars will be allowed upon this planet!"

Virus X by Frank Ryan

Where do viruses, such as Ebola and HIV, come from and why they are so aggressive? This book changed tenets of evolutionary virology, developing the concepts of aggressive symbiosis and plague culling, which explain much of the horror of plague virus

Darwin's Blind Spot by Frank Ryan

The symbiotic pattern of evolution is everywhere and allows us a very different and fascinating window into the way symbiotic viruses work, since all viruses are symbiotic, including those involved in our human reproduction.

Virolution by Frank Ryan

Our human genome is full of viruses similar to HIV-1. These have played an important role in human evolution and still play an important role in human embryology and day-to-day chemistry. Just how important are they to our evolution past and future?
