Birdsong spills through the window

floods the bed clothes with

honey colored notes, various shades of

green, turquoise, indigo

and lavendar.

Sometimes at a banquet,

in an auditorium

a bar, or a party,

ones who love me

still and whom I admire sit

in the next chair.

I can feel them next to me now.

They are never far from me.

The birds are preparing to

fly to distant lands.

They will return.
