Thought remnants of you
creating a patchwork comforter
of our sublime piece of time
your tender touch the soft batting
our fiery passion the bright colors
gently murmured words of love
stitching it all in intricate artistry.
‘Tis little to warm me in your absence
as I dwell within this dismal abyss
while matriculating shadows remind
and lingering scents attune
a profound reminiscence this
a deep joyful sensation of expectation
then you return and I am again complete.
Your face like the artwork of a master
who strokes the canvas with perfection
and captures your spirit of fine crystal
I toss aside the patchwork of reminiscence
we reach and embrace the reality of us
such a fragile and vulnerable wonder our love
feverishly we protect it, for it only happens once.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
Lovingly crafted . . . beautifully done!!
Best wishes,
