It happened where I live today; scared my little dog half out of her wits.
There comes a faint stirring within
recollection surfaces from summer’s reign
the towering oak stands defiant
the sapling sways in untutored oblivion
while the slender pine shivers
tiny scavengers acknowledge
and scurry into the underbrush
then a precognitive silence
a sudden flash of blinding energy
as nature slices its way
across the turbulent sky
a scream of seasonal right
autumn has returned.
You paint this so beautifully with your words. Although I love the autumn, it's all too short...but the wonderful thing about seasons is they continue from one to the next.
