They say that there are two creatures fighting within us for control. The one we feed most is the one who wins. We are told that our adversaries lurk in the shadows waiting for the opportunity to creep into our lives unaware. I fully empathise with your struggle with the beast. I have engaged a different beast. Both have the same goal in mind - to destroys us emotionally, physcially and spiritually.

This is so very powerful, Joyce -- Writing it must have been very cathartic for you, too. I remember back when I was a smoker, I had those same inner feelings. I smoked for comfort, pleasure, to wait for something, to celebrate something, to ease pain or heartache, etc., That was my monster ... a monster I, too, had to feed and I eventually beat. I salute you, sweet friend!
