They Just Appear
I’ve always had them…
Where do they come from?
They just appear sometimes…
From mouth and pen they come.
Some days flowing freely more than others…
Bursting to get out…
Anxious for eyes to behold.
Those that I hold deep inside,
Awaiting to be told.
I’ve wondered often where they are from…
And have been asked what’s really the purpose?
What are they for, and what are they worth?
I don’t know I sometimes reply,
They’ve been here since my birth,
They often awake me at night eager to get out.
Go back to sleep I tell myself,
But instead I arise.
I reach for my journal…
And quickly allow them to flow.
Deep inside my fear is forgetting,
Or afraid the gift may be taken.
No, they must come out…
So quickly I write them,
Rather than wrestle with unknown doubt.
So, when I am asked about these...
These words that I have inside.
I just simply say…
It’s a gift from heaven…
from God actually I reply,
And I’m blessed they've come my way.
