In my biography here at the den, you will find some words that I try to live by...and have found them to be true and helpful. My mother always told me that if I never tried, I would never know if I would succeed or if I would fail...so I will continue to try! Reflecting upon these borrowed words of widsdom came the inspiration for this poem...

Craving

Desires born,
growing within spirit and soul…
Unknown cravings,
nurtured daily, expression awaits…
innocence remains intact,
as stories…await to be told.

Buried within,
within each whom breathe…
Some forgotten,
busy lives, altered plans…
and so our lives continue,
while our future…it does weave.

Others hidden,
lurking beneath the surface…
safely sheltered,
from fear and rejection…
we tuck them away,
while only ourselves…we deceive.

Awaiting discovery,
within a tomb of safety, fire continues to grow…
anticipation building,
as the moment arrives…
craving the surface to reach,
desires quenched…as finally ourselves…we let go!

"within a tomb of safety,"
Love the juxtaposition in this phrase.
We are commanded not to look back as we plow are rows, and the layered summation of your last line illustrates this well.

Joyce,
It's so true..the Creator places seeds of Instruction into us, when He breathes us into being. Discovering them, and living them out - to fulfillment - is an amazing adventure, call Life, amen?!

How adeptly you have described the experience, Sister!

I always told my kids that the "doing" is not what they should dread, it's the it "not doing" that brings a stagnate life, they should fear. Beautiful piece, Joyce!

This write can really trigger the spirit to search out the hidden "Craving" within ourselves...

"innocence remains intact..." this line got me really pondering on the truth of the matter...isn't it amazing how this stays intact?...a gift! for if our memories were to change and become "matured", so to speak...they wouldn't be as treasured...
It also makes me think of how we are to "become like a little child...", in the biblical sense..."Craving" the innocence of our spirits when our spirits were so free...free to love, free from prejudice and judgement...
Excellent write Joyce...this was very well thought out and written
Love and Peace~

Anticipation is the descriptive word I get from this poem, Joyce. Like 2 lovers who have taken a vow of abstintence, they are almost at the point of no return, sometimes., then they remember the purpose of their anticipation. Very well written! Kudos to you!!

Joyce, we live our lives in the way we are taught as youngsters whether it be from a wonderful Mother or a marvelous teacher, aunt or uncle. These examples will follow us through life. This reminds me so of myself...I try to always live by the examples I was given in my life and to strive to achieve the best that I can. My first selection was to put God first in my life and then to follow HIS words. We make mistakes but we don't cop out and make more, we try to resolve them and try again. This is a wonderful poem...so well stated and in a sincere voice.

If Hanibal hadn't tried, his elephants would have never cross the Alps and we will be looking at a different Roman Empire history.
To try what seems unpossible and accomplish our goals despite of the odds agains it, is to succeed, even if we weren't even near the top.
Good cravings.

This is beautiful, Joyce. I know the feeling of always craving for new discoveries as a new day is born. For me there's never a dull moment, for I don't allow man's rules and regulations stop me from discovering who God intended me to be. One thing I have learned on this journey of discovery is: "I know who I am. The God who made the universe, knows who I am. It doesn't matter what others say or think about me, God loves me." So I make mistakes, grow from them, and laugh at myself when I mess up. Yes, I've learned how to let go...
Enjoyed this write, Joyce.

God Bless
Much love
