This following poem is a re-post. I originally posted it last year. The poem is based upon a dream that I had only a few nights prior to the 9-11 tragedy that forever changed lives and history...

The Vision

I awoke on September 09, 2001…
sweat was beaded upon my brow!

Dazed, confused, and a fear like no other…
what had happened while I had slumbered?

A vision…but what did it mean?

A building…I had viewed, one of a great multitude.

The walls were crumbling…and crashing to the ground.

Darkness like no other quickly filled the air…
“Where am I?” I shouted! Only, no one did hear.

Searching for an answer, through smoke filled passages…

I began to seek an exit.
I pleaded with God, “I just want to go home!”

I did no find the comfort of my own bed…
instead I saw flesh and bone,
which burned upon the dead!

A light finally began to trickle…
through flames and smoke I now could see…

What was that? This thing, which lay ahead of me…
In a black hooded cloak…this thing…it spoke to me!

“It’s time to die!” I heard it say…

“Lord, help me Jesus!” I fervently prayed.

Two more exits I did face…only to be greeted just the same way.

On the fourth…and final exit
“What do you want?” I finally proclaimed!

This hooded figure pointed…looking directly at me…he did say,

“You among the others must die…here this very day!”

For my cell phone I began to reach…

Tears pouring down my face
“No! I cried…I’m not ready to die!”

As I looked down…I saw blood upon my hands…Fear engulfed me…

But the stains did testify.

The numbers brightly lit…and glowing red upon my cell phone…

9-11 they displayed…as I stood there, all alone.

This vision…lingered within my mind…telling only one friend.

I prayed for an answer…an understanding of this intrusion,
the invasion of my peace.

Two days later…I knew the reason,

When God instilled in my heart…

That our life is but only for a season…

For weeks before 9-11 I kept telling my wife, "Something terrible is about to happen, I don't know what, but something."
It wasn't till about a month later that I recalled telling her...we both freaked out...me more than her.

Tremendously effective writing, dear Joyce. It is so awesome when God gives us a supernatural experience like this.
"Our life is but only for a season." I pray that this powerful insight will impact the soul of every one who reads it, and inspire them to surrender to the Lord while He is still calling.

Love,
Connie

Haunting, indeed. . .and, yes, brilliant. To suffer such a premonition is dreadful, but when you are as sensitive and caring as you are, it is not at all surprising. You have done an excellent job of conveying the horror, and at the same time reminding us how important it is to seize the moment, and help others do the same.
With respect, admiration, and not a little awe, 'Pea' xOxOx

That had to scare the feathers out of you. I have never had a dream that came true but have had drwams where I could actually feel what was happening and woke up with marks from where it happened. So I know your fear. Great write Joyce!

I lived in NS. when I dreamt that there was an ambulance at my Mom's house, she lived in Nfld. a different province I was so upset when I awoke, I called home as they were taking her to the hospital with a heart attack, so I know this feeling. Thank you for sharing.

It's spooky to have these visions. To see numbers, bodies, faces, etc. But then, if we ourselves are ready, we shouldn't get so spooked. Cheers

These kinds of insights can certainly make one sweat and be confused for awhile. But then when the dream or vision is quantified with a real event that takes place, it is very humbling indeed. Awesome!

Joyce, a most powerful writing about a frightening dream and then to see a horrible tragedy happen on 9/ll/2001. Dreams maybe forewarnings of things to come. You've captured a dream putting it into a picture of reality.

What a frightening dream--and then to suddenly hear the horrible news on 9/11 must have been a horrendous shock. Your poem paints a heartbreaking picture that probably compares to what those poor people thought in their last moments.

When it happens to a believer it is a signal, a blessing or both.
When it happens to a non believer is God knocking on his door about time to wake up and join his children flock.
