It seems that death has lingered within our small community during the past couple of weeks, and with death we are often reminded of life...and just how precious it really is...

"Ticking moments"--what a wonderful phrase to catch one's attention, especially those of us who are counting those moments each day of our precious lives. Your poem is an eye-opener for any who take life for granted and let the hours and minutes slide by in waste. When one looks at the clock, their immediate thoughts should be, "It is time to live."

Death..."they" say it comes in three's???
I too have been thinking about how precious a life can be...as my nephews'(19), best friend was found dead in bed this week, by his mother,no less... after he regurgitated on his own vomit sometime in the night...drugs and alcohol, robbed him, and her, of the memories they could have shared...Yes! We must cherish EVERY moment...good or bad, but hopefully the bad will turn us back to good before it kills us!
I always know when I leave your page, I will always leave, much more enlightened then I was when I came...
Love and Peace~

Joyce,
A tender and meaningful poem; one that has even more meaning for me right now with the recent loss of my dog. We can never help ourselves from thinking back and wondering if we seized the day as much as we could have. Love and Hugs:)

Dear Joyce, you write is so succint and to the point. Are we aware of our life which is passing in front of our nose. Yes, enjoy every moment that life offers you. Great, keep writing, if that gives you satisfaction. Emile

To live, love, and laugh
this is truly living
enjoying, savoring the good and the bad

Once a person dies, all we have are the memories of what 'was.' There are no new memories to make, only in the telling of their story and the beauty of their life. And each time we speak of that person, we are resurrecting them to an esteemed place in our heart. This poem speaks to the sadness, joy and memories of those no longer with us. While it makes me weepy, in remembering ... it is a work of love and beauty.

God bless you. Kathy

The death of friends, family, even mere acquaintances, can become a launching pad for the most meaningful thoughts. It seems death sweeps away the trivial things and beams a bright light on the truly important values in our lives. Heaven, too, seems so much nearer when one I love has recently entered that dwelling-place of God, and even the hardened hearts become willing to talk about the hereafter at such times. Truly, there is a time for everything--to live, to die, to search for peace for one's soul.
Oh, almost forgot to tell you, I enjoyed this very much!

Love,
Connie

Beautifully written, Joyce. There IS comfort in your poem, that I feel you have accepted and overturned the sadness of death. "...and with death we are often reminded of life...and just how precious it really is..." Love these words!
